Online Prescriptions

Request an online prescription review from a South African GP.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

Can I get a prescription online?

A hiDoc doctor can prescribe medication when it is appropriate and legally permitted. You discuss your symptoms or current treatment by video, and the doctor decides whether a prescription or in-person assessment is the right next step.

How do I get a repeat prescription online?

If you're on chronic medication, you can book a repeat script review for R150. The doctor reviews whether your current prescription is still appropriate, and you can renew it for another cycle.

Can I use an online prescription at a pharmacy?

A prescription issued by the doctor can be presented to a South African pharmacy, subject to the medicine, dispensing requirements and the pharmacist's checks.

How quickly can I get an online prescription?

Timing depends on appointment availability and the assessment. If a prescription is issued, it is placed in your private records and released once payment clears.

What conditions can doctors prescribe for online?

Doctors can prescribe for most common conditions like colds, flu, allergies, headaches, and chronic medications. Complex cases may require an in-person assessment.

Is it safe to get a prescription online?

Yes. hiDoc doctors are HPCSA-registered and follow the same clinical guidelines as in-person doctors. They assess your condition carefully before prescribing.

What's the difference between an online prescription and repeat script review?

A consultation (R250) is for new conditions or medications. A repeat script review (R150) is for chronic medications you're already on and just need to renew.
