You can book a GP review of an existing medicine. Have your current prescription and relevant medical history ready. Renewal is not automatic: the GP may need examination findings, monitoring or tests before deciding whether to prescribe.

A prescription issued by the doctor can be presented to a South African pharmacy, subject to the medicine, dispensing requirements and the pharmacist's checks.
